Umar Zain is a skilled landscape architect with 27 years experience. He has worked in every part of landscape industry, from designing to implementation and maintaining landscape projects, from Consultancy Company to Contractor Company, also in Developer. Besides Indonesia, he also has handled some projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and United Kingdom.
After graduated from Institut Pertanian Bogor, majoring in Landscape Architecture, in 1994, he joined developer PT Dharmala Land Surabaya. There, he worked as assistant landscape manager in golf and residential project.
In the same year afterward, he moved to Jakarta, worked in PT Forestech Hortikulturindo, a contractor company. Most of his projects are residential. Sentul Hill, Palm Hill and Puncak Resort are projects he undertook as project coordinator, while in Lippo Karawaci, Sekolah Pelita harapan Sentul and Rancamaya Residential and Golf Resort he took part as maintenance supervisor.
Three years later, he joined an International Landscape Consultant, ACLA Pte. Ltd. (Formerly Aspinwall Clouston Pte. Ltd.). He then designed various projects ranging from residential, theme park, business park, civic, and resort, in Indonesia as well as in Singapore and Hong Kong.

In 1999, he moved to Singapore to join Tropical Environment Pte. Ltd., a Singapore Landscape Contractor. Here, he worked as landscape designer as well as project supervisor. Projects he undertook:

He then came back to Indonesia in 2003 and worked in Planning and Design Department of PT Belaputera Intiland, developer of Kota Baru Parahyangan Bandung. Projects he took part are Bale pare, Cluster Pitaloka and driving range.
Later in 2004, he started his own business as landscape architect. PT Belaputera Intiland is his client for landscape consultancy. Other projects in Kota Baru Parahyangan such as Country Club (now Mason Pine) and Al Azhar International School are his design (now Sekolah Al Irsyad). He also became an associate to PT Urbane Indonesia, an internationally recognized master planner, where he involved in planning new urban housing in Binjai, North Sumatra, Nagoya Terrace in Batam, Tarumanegara University in Jakarta. Other projects he has involved are planning and designing landscape of Deltamas CBD in Cikarang; several landscape design of Residential Project and the recent one Rasuna Epicentrum Kuningan Jakarta (Mixed use commercial project).
His broad experience and educational background have provided him with sound knowledge of tropical Southeast Asia plant material, horticulture and construction techniques, and hard materials used in landscape. His familiarity with contract administration, project management, site supervision and a knowledge of landscape drainage and irrigation system is a plus that ensures the quality of his end products.
His landscape architecture consultancy services will include project management skill as well as design ability. He will do site survey and analysis leads to concept design, followed by detailed design and documentation as well as the administration and supervision of contracts for soft landscape and hard landscape works. Besides consultancy, he may give design and build services to clients should they want to. Sharing and giving his clients his best, helping them transform their ideas to reality and fulfill their dreams are his goals.
